From the outskirts of the entertainment industry springs...

Take the journey to the centre of hilarity with the day dreamer next door.

By 2015, Hutchings' notions of making Thingys rather than films, had taken him away from traditional film and TV production towards more immediate and tactile methods of manifesting his daydreams and storytelling. To follow-up Django Away!, Hutchings simply continued filming sequences featuring his comedy character for another feature-length Thingy. By the end of 2018, Freelance Giggle-oh had played to the general public in Manchester and Milan and was distributed on-demand worldwide by Italian art label Carboluce.
Thingyfesto is the product of Hutchings' seven years of filmmaking-trial-and-error experience. Part filmmaking manifesto and part comedy tie-in book, this pocket edition of Thingyfesto is comprised of the 10 tongue-in-cheek filmmaking principals he has discovered as he made his first two Thingys.
Thingyfesto is a book for anyone interested in the creative impulse of filmmaking. Whether you are starting out or already established, Hugh Moir has managed to capture many practical and helpful tips and tricks from Hutchings' methods with a focus on the importance of considering why we should press record in the first place.
Have your copy of From Start to Thingy personalised with a handwritten message from Daniel Hutchings. Simply add your desired message to your order and Hutchings will deface the title page of your copy with a permanent felt-tip.
A must for all Thingy Fans and a great gift for a Future Thingy Fan too!

"A totally self-produced, visionary work by the
ironical and multi-talented Daniel Hutchings.
Freelance Giggle-oh is a richly structured
comical mix of eccentric characters
that winks at Monty Python."
Roberto Rup Paolini

"I think this is the best entry point into Thingys as it’s the perfect way to understand what Hutchings is trying to achieve with his output while also giving you an insight as to why and how he comes up with these concepts. Balls to the wall absurd comedy."
